Choosing the RIGHT Bathroom Vanity Takes More than You Think
We wrote about bathroom vanities last week, which you can read here. We selected our Top 10 Favorite Pre-Made Vanities for when our clients don’t have the time or budget for custom renovations. But how did we make those selections exactly? Well, a designer’s choices are never random. Today, we’re sharing with you our top 7 things to consider when choosing a bathroom vanity:
1. Sink Size
2. Storage
Storage is an important element in any space, especially in a small bathroom. A bathroom vanity with a ample storage is a must. Look for vanity that has both shelves and pull out drawers. Shelves are useful for larger items you might not use everyday, while drawers of varying depths are handy for your every day toiletries. The variability in types of storage makes for better organization and easier access.
3. Ample Counter Space
Everyone needs space to place their tooth brushes, creams, razors, and other toiletries. Though you may love the chic, minimalistic look of a free-standing sink, it’s probably not practical for everyday use. As we mentioned above: the guest powder room may be the place to have fun with aesthetically-pleasing elements that would be less comfortable in the bathroom you use to get ready in the morning.
4. Consider Height

5. Quiet Cabinets
There is nothing worse than hearing slamming vanity doors at 6am! Just like the kitchen cabinets, your vanity is used every day. It may cost you a little bit more to find the perfect quiet cabinets, but it is little luxuries like these which will get every day off to a better start. For a quick fix for loud cabinets without replacing them, consider adding rubber or felt patches to the back corners of the doors and drawers.
6. Perfect Pulls
7. Wear & Tear
If you’re designing the children’s bathroom, turn to natural wood versus painted, and for counter tops to granite Denver or quartz. These materials are much more durable then soft stones like marble. And a great thing about quartz is that it is virtually indestructible and comes in nearly every color!
